In Cannes they applaud satire against capitalism

Triangle of sadness, which has Mexican support, was applauded for 10 minutes

Cannes.— The Lumiere room of the Cannes Festival erupted in applause for almost 10 minutes when the credits of the film “Triangle of sadness” appeared, by the Swedish Ruben Ostlünd, who laughs at capitalism and its excesses, ridiculing characters privileged by putting them in extreme situations.

The film has Mexican support, the production company Piano, by Julio Chavezmontes, as well as others such as BBC Film (United Kingdom) and Danish Film (Denmark).

The Mexican producer has established himself as one of the favorites in the gala competition; last year with two films: “Melancolía” and “Annette”. The first won the Jury Prize and the second the Best Director award, with Leos Carax.

For Alice Kruger, a Finnish producer, “this is a very interesting, fun and refreshing film to watch at Cannes because despite touching on critical issues it makes you laugh and have a good time,” she told EL UNIVERSAL.

According to Rabby Hilder, a publicist for Tik Tok, “Ruben Ostlünd achieves a rare mix of arthouse cinema and the perfect film to captivate audiences. He has the perfect balance between authentic and commercial and that’s the hardest thing to achieve”.

Brazilian film critic Marianne Guevi commented that “seeing this film was a unique experience.”

Ruben Ostlünd already has a Palme d’Or for “The Square” where the perversion of the bourgeoisie, the subject he is passionate about, is the center of the acclaimed film that also won an Oscar.
