Hollywood and former spies campaign to investigate Russian intervention in election
In a video that circulates on social networks this Tuesday, the celebrated actor of dozens of hits of the big screen, puts his deep and solemn voice in the service of a new campaign in which several Hollywood stars and personalities of the security of Washington underline Moscow’s interference in the 2016 presidential elections: the “Committee to Investigate Russia”.
The group is led by Rob Reiner, actor and director of films such as “When Harry Met Sally,” and former National Intelligence Chief James Clapper, who spent part of the last eight months chastizing President Donald Trump for not admitting interference of Russia in the presidential elections.
With a website, a Facebook page and a Twitter account that has already published more than 40 tweets about Russia and has garnered 8,500 followers, the group promises an “unbiased and non-profit” effort to help Americans understand ” continuing attacks by Russia on our democracy. ”
“We need our president to speak directly to us and tell us the truth” about Russia’s meddling in the elections, Freeman says.
The movement comes at a time when several investigations are under way into Russia’s eventual ties to the environment of Trump, his family and campaign staff.
