Details of the date on which the prequel will be released are still unknown, but Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, said that it will be some time between the end of Game of Thrones and the start of the new spin-off.

“We are not considering any scenario in which at least one year passes after the end of the original series,” he told Deadline. “I want the last season of Game of Thrones to be the last season of Game of Thrones, I do not want to use it to launch something else, I want it to be the end of the best series of all time, and I do not want anything to interfere with that” .
