‘Naatu Naatu,’ from SS Rajamouli’s historical action movie RRR, has received the award for ‘Best Original Song’ at the 80th Golden Globes. The ceremony took place on Sunday in New Delhi.
The song “Naatu Naatu” is the first from India to take home the honour.
Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj sang the song, which was composed by MM Keeravani.
In addition to Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun and Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther, the other nominated songs are “Ciao Papa” from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, “Carolina” by Taylor Swift for Where The Crawdads Sing, “Hold My Hand” from Lady Gaga’s Top Gun, and “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun.
Golden Globe winner RRR is also up for the award for “Best Non-English Language Film.”
After hearing the news of the win, the entire team, including directors SS Rajamouli and MM Keeravani, celebrated in a raucous outburst of excitement. Film’s official Twitter account shared video of the team’s victory celebration.
Keeravani was also shown in a photo with the trophy she won, which was also provided by the user handle. “LEGENDARYYYYY MM KEERAVAANI!!”
