From lawyer to partner: Camille Vasquez gets promotion after winning the trial in which Johnny Depp faced Amber Heard

The lawyer Camille Vasquez defended Johnny Depp in the trial in which he faced Amber Heard and after the verdict, she obtained a promotion in her firm.

Actor Johnny Depp won on Wednesday, June 1, the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, although the popular jury also found him responsible for defaming the actress on one occasion.

The victory in this media trial was clear for Depp because he will only have to pay Heard US$2 million compared to the more than US$10 million that she will have to pay – it was US$15 million according to the jury, but the judge has lowered it -.

The jury, made up of five men and two women, unanimously determined that three sentences written by Heard in a 2018 opinion column in The Washington Post newspaper were false, defamatory, and were written with malicious intent, even though they were not explicitly mentioned by Depp.

Camille Vasquez, one of Johnny Depp’s lawyers during his trial against Amber Heard, became one of the protagonists of this legal battle after her successful performance.

Due to her outstanding performance, Vasquez has received several job offers at major law firms and on various television networks in Hollywood.

“The verdict confirms what we had said from the beginning”: the emotional words of the lawyer Camille Vásquez after celebrating the victory of Johnny Depp in the trial against Amber Heard

However, the legal expert was recognized by her firm, got a promotion, and became a partner.

“We are pleased to announce that Camille Vasquez has been elevated to partner. She was a key member of the litigation team that won the jury verdict for actor Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard,” the Brown Rudnick law firm wrote on its social media accounts.

According to Brown Rudnick and William Baldiga, CEO of the firm, “We are delighted to welcome Camille as a partner at our firm. Historically, we’ve reserved these types of announcements for the end of the fiscal year, but Camille’s performance at Johnny Depp’s trial showed the world that she’s ready to take the next step. We are incredibly proud of her.”

According to the release, Camille Vasquez joined the firm in 2018, specifically in the Orange County office in the Litigation and Arbitration area.

“She has more than 10 years of experience as a trial lawyer in high-stakes disputes, including defamation cases, contract disputes, business-related torts, and employment-related claims,” they added about Vasquez’s career.

The lawyer and now partner responded with a strong message.

“I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me their full vote of confidence in inviting me into the partnership. I am proud of the team with which I have had the privilege to lead”, said the lawyer.
