Much of the faith of DC Comics fans rest on the shoulders of the recent premiere of The Batman. The film directed by Matt Reeves not only brings a new version of the Dark Knight who defends Gotham City, played by Robert Pattinson but also develops spin-offs for HBO Max that will open up a whole universe of possibilities.
What we know about Pattinson’s Batman is that he exposes much more of the detective side of Bruce Wayne. The billionaire who lost his parents when he was a child is in one of his darkest stages, right in that transition where he is becoming the man in the cape who jumps over the buildings of Gotham City.
The lineup of characters that appear in “The Batman” excites the same or more than Robert Pattinson himself, starting with Colin Farrell, who plays the Penguin. There is also a high expectation for the work that Zoe Kravitz will do as Selina Kyle ( Catwoman ) and what will be given to us by Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis in the role of Alfred and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon.
But no proper name is as exciting as what is cooking in the ovens of DC Comics, the Warner studio, and HBO. According to what Matt Reeves himself, director of this film, says, there are already two confirmed spin-offs. They’re going to be on the HBO Max streaming service and one of them will be tied to Arkham Asylum.
Spin-off linked to Arkham Asylum
According to a Super Fiction review, the first spin-off is focused on Colin Farrell’s Penguin. The performance of the 45-year-old Irishman surprised us in such a way that it was impossible to be left alone with this participation in films.
The other series will be developed around the police unit in charge of officer James Gordon, played in this universe by Jeffrey Wright.
“We’re doing this series about the Penguin and one of his great features is Colin Farrell, who is like you’ve never seen him before. He is amazing and he steals all his scenes. Along the way, we thought we could make a series about this character. So I talked to HBO Max, showed them Colin in the movie, and told them what it could be, to which they said “Let’s do it,” Matt Reeves said, according to Super Fiction.
We’re doing that and another series that connects with Arkham (Asylum). We’re talking and thinking about the next movie, but honestly, right now I want audiences to connect with this. And I really think they will because I think Rob (Pattinson) is an amazing Batman,” he added.
What is Arkham Asylum?
If you’re not a DC fan, you probably don’t know what Arkham Asylum is, and that’s fine, here we will explain to you what exactly that term means. This is a psychiatric institute or prison where they lock up the most insane villains that Batman has faced: obviously, Joker is the main one.
But Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Dos Caras, Killer Croc, and even El Ventriloquist have also passed here. Almost every Batman or Gotham City movie has referenced or featured this site. There is even a bat video game centered around this location.
