Carlos Santana postpones his next six concerts after fainting on stage

Veteran guitarist Carlos Santana, who collapsed on stage during a concert in Michigan earlier this week and was taken to hospital, has postponed the next six concerts of his ‘Miraculous Supernatural 2022’ tour with Earth, Wind and Fire.

Michael Vrionis, representative of the artist, affirmed that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure for the health of the artist and added that all the shows scheduled from July 23 in Paso Robles, California, until the end of 2022 are still confirmed and will perform as planned.

“I’m sorry to inform you that Santana’s band has postponed tonight’s show at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. And, we are postponing the July 9th show at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio; July 10th in American Family Insurance Amphitheater – Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; July 12 at Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion in Rogers, Arkansas; July 15 at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Texas; July 16 at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodlands, Texas,” said Michael Vrionis, President of Universal Tone Management. “Doctors have recommended that Mr. Santana rest to fully recover,” he added.

Another Santana agent said the incident earlier this week was due to severe heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Last December, Santana, who turns 75 this month, underwent what his management described as “unscheduled” heart surgery that caused the postponement of that month’s Las Vegas residency. However, he resumed his shows the following month and in late March began another US tour that has continued ever since.

The tour with Earth, Wind and Fire is scheduled to continue until the end of August. Just two weeks later, the musician is scheduled to resume his long-running residency at the House of Blues in Las Vegas through the end of September, before resuming for two more weeks in November.

“Carlos is doing well and is eager to return to the stage soon. He just needs to rest,” continued Vrionis. “Santana deeply regrets the delay in his upcoming performances, but his health is our main concern. He wishes to see all of his fans very soon.”

Live Nation will announce the dates of the rescheduled shows. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates.
