Last year, superstar Billie Eilish (21) saw an enormous visual transformation. From previously predominantly oversized looks with a lot of fabric to body-hugging, more revealing styles. The famous corset look on the cover of “Vogue” caused a stir, although not everyone liked it. She felt that in a very unpleasant way, as the singer has now revealed.
Hater on the net: “You are such a fat cow”
In an interview with the “Sunday Times” magazine, Billie does not hold back in criticizing the way women are treated in public, especially their appearance. “When I wear baggy clothes, no one is attracted to me and I don’t feel likable or sexy or beautiful,” Billie explains her sentiment.
“People shame you for not being feminine enough,” Billie Eilish continues. If she were to wear “something more revealing” then, in turn, she would be criticized for her figure. In the past, she had to listen to comments like “You’re such a fat cow” from haters on the Internet.
The musician is alluding to the nasty criticism of her “Vogue” cover in May 2021. As part of the magazine shoot, she presented herself in a look that was rather unusual and very revealing for her at the time. The 21-year-old sums it up: “It’s a crazy world for women.”
Billie is very worried about feeling “unwanted”.
But the Grammy Award-winner Billie Eilish admits that looking back, she wasn’t really happy with the style on the cover. “I don’t know who that is, but that’s not me!” At the time, she didn’t have enough time to think about the style. She explains that in the end she even got involved in it: “I have this worry that I felt so undesired that at times I tried too hard to be desirable.”
Singer Billie Eilish is true to her style again
When she thinks about the negative emotions that guided her today, it makes her very sad. But this kind of self-reflection shows greater strength and certainly helps Billie on her way to defining her very own style – detached from society’s expectations.
