What is the Apollo Method?

The Apollo method, also known as gastric sleeve without surgery, is a novel oral stomach reduction treatment that consists of performing sutures in the internal cavity of the stomach, avoiding open surgery, by means of endoscopy, to thus limit its ability. The Apollo method is not a surgical operation, but an endoscopic intervention, the sutures in the internal cavity of the stomach are made by introducing an endoscope through the patient’s mouth.

For which patients is it indicated?

The Apollo method is recommended for patients who have a BMI between 30 and 42, or those who do not wish to have surgery could be evaluated. That is, it is recommended in patients with grade II and III obesity.

You will need to take a gastric protector 2 weeks before the reduction.

What anesthesia is used?

Is it a reversible method?

In our center, the patient is accompanied by an endoscopist, a nutritionist and a psychologist who accompany him throughout the process.

Does this method have any contraindications or side effects?

The most common contraindications are anatomical alterations due to esophageal or gastric surgery (consult in each case). As for side effects the Apollo method have none.
