The Russian government continues this Sunday morning with its all-out offensive to seize Kiev, the Ukrainian capital. At night the sirens sounded again and the Ukrainian government announced that “strong air strikes” and bombardments are expected throughout the night.
Shelling of a fuel depot located in Vasilkov, on the outskirts of Kiev, lit up the sky. Local authorities ordered citizens to seek shelter in bunkers and underground parking lots. Volodymyr Zelensky ‘s government claimed to have killed 1,000 Russian soldiers and captured another 300.
A powerful explosion lit up the sky over Kiev in the early hours of this Sunday. The first information indicates that it was a Russian bombardment of a refinery located in Vasilkov, about 20 kilometers from the capital.
From the United States they maintain that with the new sanctions Russia will be “a world economic and financial pariah”. The new sanctions that the European Union, the United States and Canada announced this Saturday for Russia for invading Ukraine turned the country governed by Vladimir Putin into a “financial pariah”, assured a senior US official.
“Russia has become a global financial and economic pariah,” he said, and now its central bank “cannot support the ruble (its currency).” The European Union resolved to disconnect the main Russian banks from the SWIFT financial system.
Meanwhile, Russia decided this Saturday to close its airspace to companies linked to or registered in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Slovenia, in retaliation for similar measures taken by these countries.
