Young man takes selfies for 5 years; turns them into an NFT and becomes a famous millionaire

Although it started as a joke, many people started collecting the NFT photos of this boy. Here is Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali’s story.

A young man has become popular on social networks because he became a millionaire selling the selfies he took for five years. The 22-year-old had a rather curious idea that soon went viral, as he decided to turn his self-portraits into a collection of NFTs that generated a lot of income.

Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, as this lucky young man is called, is a computer science student who lives in the province of Central Java, in Indonesia. Since 2017, he takes a selfie in front of his PC. Although the boy’s idea started as a joke, the good reception he received caused him to change his mind.

According to the posts, this lucky guy registered on the NFT Open Sea platform and began selling his selfies at a price of US$3, which would be equivalent to 0.00001 Ethereum (ETH). His post became a trend among NFT fans, who decided to acquire them as a collection.

Such was the popularity of the NFTs sold by Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali that the value of his selfies amounted to 0.9 ETH, that is, about US $ 3,000. To date, the boy has managed to raise more than 1.2 million dollars, thanks to his peculiar idea.

“I can’t believe people bought my NFT photo. Already 35 sold in one day. I still don’t understand why they want to buy NFT photos from me. But I thank all of you for these five years of effort. It was worth it,” the young man wrote on his Twitter account.

The story of Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali became so viral that the Indonesian authorities demonstrated and invited the boy to regularize his tax situation. “It will be the first time I pay taxes in my life,” he said.
