The most popular instant messaging app in the world will allow group chat administrators to delete messages from any member of the conversation group without the need for user authorization.
Group administrators can add or delete contacts, change the name and photo of the chat, manage temporary messages; and from the next update, they will be able to delete the messages sent by any of the chat participants as part of the “moderation” of the conversation.
This will result in that when the message is deleted, a notification will automatically be sent to the rest of the group in the place where the message was. The administrator, who is the only one with the ability to delete the message, will be able to see what was deleted and in the case of groups shared by several administrators, the message can be seen among them and will include the name of the person who deleted the message.
This new feature will be available in the next Whatsapp beta update for iOS and Android, and although the date is unknown, it is said that it could be this 2022 since it is not the first time that this option has been discussed in group chats.
Remember that message deletion in general chats was implemented in 2017 when the update started allowing messages to be deleted for the user or for both people in the conversation.
Recently, temporary message options have been announced that can be kept and managed through the application settings.
