LGBTI Siri gets a new gender non binary voice as part of iOS 15.4
Apple has added to its Siri digital assistant, as part of its 15.4 updates to its iOS mobile operating system, a new non-binary gender voice, which is not clearly identified as male or female and that users can choose.
Siri already had, in its English version, four different voices for users to choose from. Three others were added to the initial for women, which until last year was the default. Including male vices.
Now, Apple’s smart assistant has received a fifth voice in its English language version, this time of non-binary gender, which is not clearly associated with the male or female sex.
The American company, which has confirmed the new function to Axios, has assured that it has hired a person from the LGTBQ+ community to develop Siri’s new voice. The new Siri feature serves the purpose of “giving users more options to choose a voice that speaks for them.”
Siri’s non-binary gender voice has reached developers as part of the fourth beta of the iPhone mobile operating system, iOS 15.4, which will be available to end-users in March. What do you think of this new voice?
