BBL champions Hobart Heat posted a season-best 7-150 in their last game of the season on Sunday.

In their Big Bash League match at Bellerive Oval, the Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes quicks split the early spoils until some strong hitting from James Bazley drove the Heat to 7-150.

After the home team won the bat flip and opted to bowl, Nathan Ellis (3-41) and Tom Rogers (2-15), Riley Meredith (1-23), and Jordan Thompson (1-24) all got in on the action.

After the first four-over power play, the Heat slumped to 2-16, with Rogers and Meredith hitting the ball often.

Rickey Rogers reappeared in the midst of the innings and nabbed Sam Heazlett (26 from 28) with one over to spare, despite going at less than a run-per-ball in his four overs.

At No. 8, Bazley made a late-game impact, smashing an undefeated 44 off 27 balls.

Jack Wildermuth, another seam all-rounder, contributed 28 from 21 balls after being considered an X-factor player at the 10-over stage.

When Jimmy Peirson edged Meredith to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade in the second over, Peirson was out for just five runs.

During the sixth over, Ellis took the wicket of Chris Lynn (13 from 15 balls).

After the Heat were dismissed for 105 by the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday, the team came close to defending the score in a two-wicket defeat.

The Hurricanes have won three in a row and are in third in the league, while the Heat are 2-7 and in fifth.
