
National Weather Service confirms tornado touched down in Cherokee County
The National Weather Service reported that an EF1 tornado touched down in Cherokee County amid the storms that passed through Wednesday night and Thursday early.
According to them, the tornado struck about 12:19 a.m. on December 30 and ceased around 12:21 a.m.
Officials estimate the trail to be about a half-mile long, with wind gusts reaching 90 miles per hour.
Several trees were uprooted, and a huge trampoline was tossed 150 yards into an adjacent property, according to the National Weather Service. A residence and a tennis court were damaged at the start of the tornado’s path.
As it travelled forward, a small barn and RV were damaged by the tornado’s numerous falling trees. A tree also fell on a house on Rolling Hill Place Drive.
