The man was found in the city of Jaffa in northern Israel on Friday morning, the newspaper writes. He is said to have hidden and been killed in a firefight with the police anti-terrorism unit and the security service Shin Bet.
The man has been identified as a 29-year-old man from the area around Jenin in the West Bank.
So far, the authorities have not published any details about the 29-year-old’s background and motives. Israeli Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai called him a “terrorist” when he described the operation on Friday morning.
“We emphasized last night that we would find the terrorist, dead or alive, no matter how long it would take,” Shabtai was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel.
He said that the police continue to be on high alert in all regions.
Fire at a bar
The attack took place shortly after 9 pm at a bar on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv, a popular street with many bars and restaurants.
Two civilians, aged 27 and 28, were killed in the attack, according to police. Another 13 were injured, four of whom are being treated in hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The situation in Israel is tense after several terrorist attacks at the end of March.
