The symptom that indicates that you may have omicron and confuse it with a cold

The symptoms of the omicron variant of Covid-19 may be different from those of the original disease; in some cases people can confuse them with a cold, experts warn

The omicron variant of Covid-19 has intensified. Several countries show record numbers of infections, including Mexico, which despite the fact that in recent weeks there had been a downward trend in the number of SARS-COV-2 infections, in recent days positive cases of coronavirus have increased. multiplied. In this sense, the experts have called for paying attention to the symptoms of this new mutation of the virus, since this will make it easier to identify cases and break the chain of infection.

One of the most important findings around the symptoms of omicron is that some people may mistake the signs of the condition for a cold, as the new variant has been shown to be less aggressive. Due to the above, it is common for some infected patients to believe that what they really have is a cold and not Covid-19.

The most common symptom with which an infection of the omicron variant could be confused with a cold is a burning throat, as indicated in an article published on The Sun site. According to experts, irritation, itching or discomfort in the throat are one of the main signs that indicate a probable contagion of omicron.

Night sweats as a symptom of omicron

Another symptom that is currently more closely related to the omicron variant is night sweats. According to Dr. Davey Smith, Chief of Infectious Diseases and Global Health at UCSD, night sweats are another symptom that has been reported with the arrival and spread of the latest SARS-COV-2 mutation.

These statements coincide with those reported by doctors in the United Kingdom, who assure that patients confirmed with omicron have reported that they have night sweats, to the extent that they wake up at dawn to change their clothes, since the amount of sweat is very large.

However, the omicron variant seems to be less aggressive than other variants such as delta, assures the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion in Mexico, Dr. Hugo López-Gatell, who assured this morning that omicron affects only the upper respiratory tract, so it is considered to be less aggressive and more similar to a cold.
