The President visited the Sorbonne and received an honorary medal

Alberto Fernández arrived in Paris, where this Friday he will meet with his French counterpart, as part of the tour of Europe that also took him to Spain and Germany.

President Alberto Fernández received this Thursday an honorary medal presented by the Sorbonne University in Paris, at the beginning of his official visit to France, the last stop on the tour that previously made landfall in Spain and Germany and will conclude this Friday with a meeting with the re-elected French president, Emmanuel Macron.

Shortly after arriving in the French capital, the head of state visited the traditional house of higher studies founded in the 13th century to attend lunch and hold a meeting with the Academic Council.

“Marie and Pierre Curie, Simone de Beauvoir, Roland Barthes, Saint Thomas Aquinas, among other famous intellectuals, studied here,” Fernandez commented through his account on the social network Instagram.

Through that same channel, the President thanked the distinction that was awarded to him today, an honorary medal that reads “Chancellerie des universites de París”, that is, “Chancellery of the universities of Paris” in its translation into Castilian.

“After being decorated by the rector, Cristophe Kerrero, the president met with the members of the institution’s Board of Directors, with whom he discussed the problems of inequality in the world and its impact on developing and low-income countries. media, and reviewed its deepening at the international level in the context of the war”, it was officially reported.

At the end of the meeting in the Richelieu Hall of the University, the President toured the halls of the rectory, the main auditorium, and the Cathedral of Saint Ursula, and signed the Book of Honor of the Sorbonne.

Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero participated in the activity; the presidential spokeswoman, Gabriela Cerruti; the General Secretaries of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello; and Strategic Affairs, Gustavo Beliz; the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Cecilia Todesca; and the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Luciana Tito.

On behalf of France, in addition to the rector of the Sorbonne, the vice-rector for Higher Education, Bénédicte Durand; the director of the Academy, Antoine Destrés; the Head of the Rector’s Cabinet, Carine Trividic; the delegate of International Relations at the Paris Academy, Lazare Paupert; the president of the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne, Damil Jean-Marc Dakhlia; the professor at IHEAL, Carlos Quenan; and the former president of the Institute of the Americas, Yves Saint Geours.
