The Polish Parliament passed a resolution condemning Russia for war crimes

The lower house accused the troops sent by Vladimir Putin to Ukraine of repeatedly violating human rights. The deputies asked the countries of the world to support the investigation carried out by the International Criminal Court for the invasion carried out by the Kremlin

The Lower House of the Polish Parliament, the Sejm, approved this Wednesday a resolution condemning Russia for alleged war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine in which Russian President Vladimir Putin is held responsible for being the main promoter.

“The publicly available evidence justifies that Vladimir Putin is already recognized by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the international community as a war criminal,” the Polish deputies said in a statement.

In this sense, they “firmly” condemned the “long-term acts of violence”, as well as “war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide, systematic violations of Human Rights and other violations” committed in Ukraine . by the Russian Armed Forces.

The signed document ensures that these crimes have been committed “by order of military commanders under the direct authority of Russian President Vladimir Putin”, as stated in the Sejm statement, published on its website.

Thus, they called on all States “that recognize the sovereignty, territorial integrity and right to self-determination of Ukraine to support, by all means, the initiation and development of proceedings before the International Court of Justice and the Criminal Court International”.

The Sejm also urged the parliaments of democratic countries around the world and the European Parliament to recognize Vladimir Putin, the members of the Russian Security Council and the commanders of the Russian Armed Forces as “persons directly responsible for these acts. and to subject them to the strictest far-reaching sanctions”.

For his part, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured Parliament on Wednesday that the sanctions decided by the West against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine “work” and warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that there will be more and that “it is only the beginning”.

“We see that the sanctions work. This is just the beginning, we will constantly tighten the sanctions ”Scholz said in a Bundestag debate in which he delivered the message to Putin that the war in Ukraine “destroys Russia.”

Scholz said in relation to the war in Ukraine and a possible negotiated solution that “the Ukrainians and no one else are negotiating” about that country, although he added that from Berlin “everything we can” will be done to contribute to that process that leads to peace.

“We have avoided confrontation in Europe for eighty years and it should continue to be so,” said the German chancellor, who insisted that NATO “will not be a party to the war in Ukraine, the European Union (EU) and the United States”.
