Single ballot: Graciela Camaño showed in Deputies how the sheet list looks in Moreno

To defend the Single Paper Ballot project, which was finally sanctioned in the Chamber of Deputies with 132 votes in favor, 104 against, and 4 abstentions, the national legislator for Identity of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Camaño, opted for visual impact and used an eloquent graphic example: he unfolded an extensive sheet list of more than six meters.

During her speech, the representative of the dissident Peronism showed a sheet that, as she explained, was a simulation of how a Single Ballot would have been formed during the last electoral process.

“It’s this size,” he noted, lifting the paper with one hand, noting its smallness. And he continued: “ The ballot is no longer going to be in the hands of a territorial political militancy that owns the ballot to deliver it to the voter, but the ballot is going to be in the dark room, it is going to be held by the president of the table and the voter is going to be the owner of this will”.

Then, he made an eloquent comparison between how Moreno’s ballot would look with each system. First, he showed a sheet that represented the Single Ticket. Later, he asked Emilio Monzó for help to unroll a very extensive sheet list that adapts to the current party ballot structure.

Both with one end of the ballot, they began to unfold it as if it were a garland. While Camaño, seated, followed her speech, Monzó moved further and further away, thus reaching the maximum length of the ballot, which passed over 11 deputies.

“ This, gentlemen, is what we are going to avoid. This number of people, ballots, and electoral confusion contributes to the fact that the citizen cannot choose. In this ballot (the Single Ballot) you will find everything that you see here. Is there a difference, right ? ”, She closed.

The applause and laughter were heard in unison in the venue, while thousands of users replicated the scene on social networks.
