This plant, located in the south of the country, is the largest in Europe. According to Kyiv, a Russian tank fire on the plant set fire to a building dedicated to training and a laboratory. Rescuers were able to extinguish the fire.
“The territory of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is occupied by the armed forces of the Russian Federation,” said the Ukrainian state body responsible for inspecting nuclear sites.
“No change in terms of radioactivity was observed,” he added.

According to the same source, the staff ensures the proper functioning of the site, and inspections are underway to identify the damage due to the events of the night.
Of the six blocks, the 1st is disconnected, the 2, 3, 5, 6 are in the cooling phase, while the 2 is operational. The agency does not say, however, what the status of the blocks was before the attack.
“Nuclear security is now guaranteed,” Oleksandr Staroukh, head of the military administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, said overnight on Facebook. The attack did not cause any casualties, Ukrainian relief said on Facebook.
