Russian bombing of bakery in Ukraine leaves at least 13 casualties

At least 13 people were killed in a Russian bombing of a bakery in the Kyiv region, Ukraine, on the twelfth day of the Russian invasion that has kept the international community on edge.

According to the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, a Russian shell fell on an old bakery located near the town of Makarov in the Kyiv region.

At least 13 people are believed to have been killed during the shelling launched by Russian forces. It is not known whether the victims are Ukrainian civilians or military personnel.

This same March 7, 2022, the Ukrainian Communication Service reported the death of nine people during a Russian bombardment against the Vinnytsia civil and military airport, in western Ukraine, in which eight missiles hit on Sunday.

Through its official Telegram account, the communications agency detailed that 15 people have been rescued from the rubble of the airport buildings, including nine dead, five civilians and four soldiers.

Ukraine’s presidency reported that Russian forces have destroyed or damaged more than 1,500 homes, more than 200 schools and about 30 hospitals since the war began on February 24.

In addition, the Russian invasion has left more than 900 Ukrainian towns without water, electricity and heating.

The UN Human Rights Office has confirmed the deaths of 406 civilians in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began, as well as 801 non-military injuries recorded as of midnight Sunday.

However, the UN uses a strict methodology and only reports the deaths that it has been able to confirm, so it is feared that the real numbers of innocent victims are considerably higher.

In addition, more than 1.7 million Ukrainians have been displaced from their homes due to the war, for which they had to seek refuge in other countries, mainly in Poland, but also in Hungary and Slovakia.
