Rinkeby: Fired shots at police – one person arrested

A person has shot at a police officer in Rinkeby. The police have since responded to the shots and fired their service weapons. No one was injured in the shooting.

A person has fired shots at police personnel and the police have also used a service weapon, says Towe Hägg, spokesperson for the Stockholm police region.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by shooting at police.

The incident began at 17.17 after the police received an alarm that two masked people armed with a pistol-like object had been seen in Rinkeby. Residents in the area have stated that they heard sounds that sounded like gunfire.

On its website, the police write that the special prosecutor’s office has been informed of the incident.

On Saturday morning, the police announce that another person has been arrested and is suspected of aiding and abetting attempted murder.

It was shortly after 5 pm on Friday afternoon that the police were alerted to Rinkeby after information about masked people and gunshots.

According to information to Expressen, this is a suspected gang shooting that started with shootings between different people.

One of the people is said to have been injured, which has not been confirmed by the police.

When the police then arrived at the scene, gunfire ensued between those involved and the police. One person was arrested shortly afterwards.

New Rinkeby grouping

The new Rinkeby group Scorpions are suspected of being involved in the shooting. They can be linked to a murder in Rinkeby in January.

– We have initiated a preliminary investigation into a serious gun crime and attempted murder. We are still in place to find out what has happened and who and why, says Towe Hägg, the police’s spokesperson.

No police officer was injured in the incident.

The detainee convicted of gun crime

On Saturday morning, two people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. One of them is suspected of attempted murder and the other of aiding and abetting attempted murder.

The man suspected of attempted murder was convicted last year of, among other things, a weapon crime after a sharp-edged pistol was found in his home. The sentence was probation combined with three months’ imprisonment. He has also been convicted of drug offences.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office is informed of the incident, which is routine when someone has fired at police personnel or police have used service weapons.
