NATO countries disagree on how to deal with Russia

According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, NATO expects that the conflict will be “long and painful.”

The Baltic states and Poland insist on a complete severance of relations with Moscow and believe that measures are needed that will “bring Russia to its knees.” Hardliners fear that anything Russia might present as a victory would cause serious damage to European security.

At the same time, France, Germany, and Turkey want to continue to maintain contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin, even despite accusations of war crimes against the Russian army.

In Brussels, at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, British Foreign Minister Liz Truss announced the need for a complete restructuring of relations between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia, since, in her opinion, the founding act of Russia-NATO is “dead.”

Earlier, NATO predicted the preparation of a new offensive by the Russian army in Ukraine. The withdrawal of troops from Kyiv is not a retreat, but a regrouping, said the secretary general of the organization Jens Stoltenberg, commenting on the situation in the combat zone. According to NATO, Russia is preparing to conquer the Donbas and create a land corridor to the annexed Crimea.
