Immediately, charter and cargo flights must migrate their operations from the AICM to the AIFA, determined the Segob and the SICT.

The Ministry of the Interior (Segob) and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) reported that as part of the reorganization of the Mexico City airport system, charter and cargo flights must immediately migrate from the Mexico City International Airport. For cargo flights, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), administrator of AIFA, promised that in a period of 90 days it will have the fiscal and customs infrastructure ready to begin receiving international cargo flights.

Likewise, he reported that those airlines that have debts of more than one year in airport, fuel and other taxes m

These guidelines are part of an agreement that the Armed Forces, the SICT and the Segob reached with the airport authorities and the three main airlines in the country, Aeroméxico, Volaris and VivaAerobus after a meeting held yesterday.

Also, the Segob referred, to the airlines that currently operate in the AICM will maintain their slots (landing and takeoff times) that they have assigned during the summer season this year in order not to affect the offer available to users of the airport terminal.

As agreed, the AIFA is expected to have around 100 daily operations from August 15 to September 15 on a preliminary basis. President López Obrador said Monday that Aeroméxico will have 36 flights from the new air terminal by the end of the year.

“There is no decree relative to restricting operations at the AICM; Finally, it was agreed to work closely between the different government agencies, particularly with the Navigation Services in the Mexican Air Space (Seneam), the airlines and the national and international organizations of the airline industry, with the aim of continuing to offer a safe service. and reliable in the skies of the national territory”, explained the Segob.
