People have gotten some relief from the heat due to rain in the national capital Delhi and NCR. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for many other states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that the western coast of India may receive heavy rains during the next five days. It also said that there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the next two days in the northern, central, and eastern parts of India.
Southwest Monsoon is advancing further over most parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain and thundershowers in Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep in the next five days. During this period, a heavy rain alert has also been issued in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal
The IMD has predicted rain and thundershower activities in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the next two days. Along with this, rain has been forecast for the adjoining plains of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and isolated parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
The minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday fell to 23.6 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. The Meteorological Department has predicted a generally cloudy sky during the day. Also said that the maximum temperature of the city is likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department had said on Friday that due to a western disturbance, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi in the next four days under the influence of southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea.
The Meteorological Department issued an alert of heavy rain on June 21 in East Rajasthan, West Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.
The Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rain and thundershowers in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the next five days.
According to IMD, widespread rainfall is likely over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. A heavy rain alert has been issued for Assam and Meghalaya during the next 5 days and in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on June 20, 23, and 24.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain and thundershowers in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal during the next five days. According to IMD, there is a possibility of light rain in different parts of Bihar from 21st to 24th. A rain alert has also been issued in Jharkhand from 22nd to 24th. Heavy rain is expected in different parts of Odisha between June 21 and 24.
