In India, 3,623 Omicron cases have been reported, with the novel Covid-19 strain being reported in 27 states. With 1,009 cases, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state, followed by Delhi with 513 infections.
According to data updated at 9 a.m., the death toll had risen to 4,83,790, with 327 new fatalities.
The daily positivity rate was 10.21%, and the weekly positivity rate was 6.77%.
According to the health ministry, active cases account for 1.66 percent of total infections, with a national Covid-19 recovery rate of 96.98 percent.
Meanwhile, 40,863 individuals have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 3,44,53,603 since the outbreak began.
According to data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 15,63,566 Covid-19 tests in the last 24 hours, for a total of 69,00,34,525 tests thus far.
So far, India has given out 151.58 crore vaccine doses as part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
Covid updates: 59 new cases recorded in Ladakh
Ladakh’s COVID-19 caseload increased to 22,472 on Sunday as 59 more people tested positive for the virus, officials said.
All the new cases were reported from Leh district, while no fresh death was reported in the Union Territory, the officials said.
Arunachal’s COVID-19 positivity rate jumps to 9.40%
Arunachal Pradesh reported 59 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, which is 33 more than the previous day, taking the Northeastern state’s active tally to 186, a senior health official said.
Among the newly-infected patients are eight students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here who returned from other states after vacation, he said.
