Jothimani claimed on Twitter that Delhi police tore her clothes, removed her shoes, and then transported her in a bus with other female protesters like criminals.
In the midst of a controversy over the alleged mistreatment of Congress employees during Wednesday’s protests in the national capital, senior party leader Shashi Tharoor released a video of Congress MP Jothimani on Twitter, in which she claimed that Delhi police severely assaulted her.
“This is unconscionable in any democracy. Dealing with a female protestor in this manner violates every Indian standard of decency, but doing it to a Lok Sabha MP is a new low. I strongly oppose @DelhiPolice’s actions and demand accountability. Please act, speaker @ombirlakota! “Mr. Tharoor penned a letter.

Jothimani, a Congress MP from Tamil Nadu’s Karur, claimed in a video uploaded by Mr. Tharoor that Delhi police tore her clothes and transported her like a criminal in a bus with other female protesters.
Jothimani then stands up and turns around to reveal her ripped kurta. In the footage, the Congress MP is seen wearing only one shoe.
“Yesterday, we were mercilessly assaulted by Delhi police. They ripped my clothes, took off my shoes, and hauled me around like a criminal “She stated.
“There are about 7-8 women on the bus, including myself. We have often requested water, but they have refused. They tell sellers not to provide us water when we try to buy it from outside “In the video, she charged, pleading for Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to investigate into the problem.
On Wednesday, as Rahul Gandhi appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the third day in a row for questioning in connection with a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper, party leaders and workers continued their protests against the ruling BJP’s “vendetta politics.”
Several Congress employees were held outside the party headquarters and the investigation agency’s office. On its official Twitter account, Congress also released a video of the women demonstrators being pulled and loaded into buses.
Top party leaders, including KC Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel, and Randeep Surjewala, alleged on Tuesday that police stormed the party headquarters and detained workers and leaders.
The Delhi police, on the other hand, have refuted Congress’ assertions.
