Delhi issues yellow alert: What’s allowed and what’s not?

What’s the significance of this Delhi Yellow Alert in the National Capital?

A day after Delhi registered 331 new COVID-19 cases, the largest single-day increase in more than six months, the city has imposed limitations.

The daily positivity rate has crossed the 0.5 percent barrier for two days in a row, prompting a yellow alert.

The rapid spread of the novel Omicron coronavirus strain is also a source of worry.

Delhi already has a nighttime curfew in place.

• Private offices employ 50% of the total workforce.

• Hospitals, news media, banks, and telecommunications services are excluded from this restriction since they are considered vital services.

• With a limit of 20 guests, wedding ceremonies can be held in a private residence or in a courtroom. Funerals are likewise subject to the same restrictions.

• Delhi Metro will run at 50% of its normal capacity when it opens in 2019.
• Delhi Metro to operate at 50% of its maximum capacity
• Generally, stores and malls are allowed to open on the odd and even days of the week between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
• The odd-even rule does not apply to stand-alone stores and marketplaces in residential colonies.
• The capacity of the Delhi Metro and interstate buses would be reduced by half.
• Devotees will be able to visit religious sites, but they will not be permitted inside.
• The building of new facilities will also proceed.
• Schools, theatres, and gyms have been closed.
• Although beauty parlours and barbershops will remain open, spas and wellness facilities will be shut down.
• There will be a ban on political, religious, and festival-related events taking place.
• Picnics and other big gatherings will be permitted in public parks, but there will be no public parks open.
• There will be no access to theatres, multiplexes, or gyms as well.
• During this time, all banquet halls and auditoriums will be shut down.
• Colleges and universities will also be closed during this time.
