On New Year’s Eve, twelve persons were reportedly killed in a stampede at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. According to police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi area, relief and rescue activities are now underway and the situation is under control. On social media, several footage of the rush have been shared. It is reported in these that on the occasion of the New Year, a huge number of devotees sought the mother’s darshan. Meanwhile, there was a stampede. As a result, many worshippers return without receiving darshan. Devotees from Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab are among the deceased.

“Twelve persons have killed in the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine,” Block Medical Officer Dr. Gopal Dutt stated. The precise sum has not been disclosed to date. A post-mortem examination of the deceased is required. Apart from that, the injured have been sent to Narayana Hospital. At this point, 14 injured individuals have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. According to DGP Dilbag Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, the event occurred around 2:45 a.m. He stated that according to early accounts, there was a disagreement between two individuals and a brawl ensued. Following this, people began fleeing, which resulted in this accident.

Nearly 80,000 devotees had been achieved; nevertheless, the cap was not established.

According to Jagdev Singh, duty officer of the Vaishno Devi temple complex, one of the deceased is from Rajouri in Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from this, 11 other individuals hail from various places throughout the country. So far, seven individuals have been identified among the deceased. Efforts are being made to identify five other suspects. He stated that on New Year’s Eve, a big number of enthusiasts came. Around 75,000 to 80,000 people had gathered at the shrine to pray. According to a local merchant, the Shrine Board has not set a cap on the number of believers. He stated that there are a limited number of devotees who may remain in Trikuta Hills. In this case, he should have halted at Katra base camp and established his limit.
