MÉXICO – The authorities in this country are looking into the circumstances behind the deaths of five migrants whose corpses were discovered inside a railway car.
It was stated by the Secretary of Public Security of Coahuila that the finding was discovered in the afternoon of this Tuesday, May 17, in the city of Piedras Negras, which is located along the border with Eagle Pass, Texas. The news that the railroad was parked and had originated in the United States was emphasized in a press release issued by the aforementioned agency.
At this time, neither the names of the victims nor the circumstances surrounding their deaths are known. In addition, the statement said that the deceased individuals were shirtless and wore blue pants. According to the statement, the inquiry was entrusted to the Criminal Investigation Agency of the State Attorney General’s Office.
THEY CAME TO THAT CONCLUSION AS A RESULT OF THE FOOT OF ONE OF THE BODY’S BEING LEFT OUT OF A WAGON.
Although there have been accidents and fatalities from falls, this sort of discovery is not frequent, particularly if the train was already moving south when the migrants climbed on it. Freight trains have long been a method of conveyance that migrants get on to traverse Mexico to the north.
One of the victims did not have any identity paperwork on it, while another one was originally from the state of Puebla, which is located in the middle of Mexico. The three guys who were found dead were all from Honduras. The gender of the person is not made clear in the remark.
According to the INM, “Among the likely reasons of death is a severe dehydration that was further worsened by heatstroke.”
The immigration agency also stated that it has already established communication with the consular authorities and that “expenses for funeral services and for the transfer of those who lost their lives in this incident will be covered,” although they did not provide any additional information on this topic.
