Attacks on Ukraine: Journalist learns during broadcast that his house was bombed by the Russian army

Ukrainian journalist Olga Malchevska learned during a live broadcast that her house was left in ruins after Russian army bombing in Kiev

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has left death and destruction, and one of the events that have gone viral on social networks is the moment when journalist Olga Malchevska finds out in a live broadcast that her house has been bombed by the Russian army

And it is that Malchevska, presenter of the BBC, was in a live broadcast, along with her partner Karin Giannone, both spoke about the war unleashed last Wednesday, when the Russian army entered Ukraine.

While they were speaking, the program broadcast images of the Russian army bombing in Kiev, and the surprise that the Ukrainian journalist had when she realized that the bombed building was where her apartment was located.

The video that captured Malchevska’s surprised face upon learning that her house was destroyed was published by her program partner, Karin Giannone, on her Twitter account.

“The moment my @bbcukrainian colleague @Yollika sees photos of her family’s house, partially destroyed overnight in #Kyiv (Kyiv). We did not know until that moment that it was his real building that had been attacked. Fortunately, Olga’s family is safe”, highlights the message posted by Giannone.

Giannone asked Olga Malchevska “And that is literally the building that we have been talking about that has been destroyed?”

“Yes. When we were told that we came to the studio yesterday, I couldn’t imagine that in reality, at 3 am London time, I would find out that my house was bombed, ” Malchevska said.

“This royal building is my home. I’m trying to see where my real apartment is because I lived on the sixth floor (…) I just can’t think in my head that what I’m seeing is a place where I used to live, “she stressed.

The video was shared on social media

Later, Malchevska said that her mother, who lives with her in the apartment, was fine since fortunately, the woman was not there at the time of the bombing.

The armed conflict, which began last Wednesday, has left more than 300 dead.
