Assam Flood: Flood situation is improving in Assam, four more people died, about three lakh people affected

The flood situation in Assam is improving gradually. According to the official bulletin released on Monday, all the rivers are flowing below the danger mark. According to this, four people, including three children, lost their lives in six districts due to floods on Monday. At the same time, more than 2.90 lakh people are still suffering from floods.

According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two deaths each were reported in Nagaon and Cachar. The death toll due to floods and landslides in the state has risen to 36. A total of 2,90,749 people are affected by the floods in Cachar, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, and Nagaon. However, all the rivers in these districts are flowing below the danger mark.

According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Nagaon is the worst affected due to the floods. More than 3.07 lakh people are in distress here, followed by Cachar with 99,060 people and Morigaon with 40,843 people affected due to floods. Till Sunday, over 4.01 lakh people were affected by the floods in six districts of the state.

This bulletin said that 25,372 people affected by the floods have taken shelter in 88 relief camps. The maximum number of 21,721 people have taken shelter in Cachar and 3,546 in Nagaon in these relief camps.
At present, 401 villages are submerged in water in the flood-affected districts of the state. Due to floods, 16,562 hectares of crop area have been damaged. In Cachar, Dima Hasao, and Udalguri, flood waters damaged embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
