Apple issues a critical security update for its older iPhones.

Due to recent hacker efforts, Apple has released an emergency security update for its longevity devices. Their iPhone, iPad, iPod, or an older Mac device is the target, and users should be cautious because these devices are particularly vulnerable. Members of the Google Threat Analysis Group reported this via Twitter.

Google security engineers Erye Hernandez and Clément Lecigne stated that the CVE-2021-30869 vulnerability on computers was found in the XNU operating system software. Successfully exploiting a flaw like this can result in the execution of arbitrary code on compromised devices, which is being used by cybercriminals to break into vintage Apple terminals.

“Apple is aware of a report that this flaw may have been aggressively exploited,” said Apple spokespersons.

The iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and sixth-generation iPod touches having an iOS 12.5.5 operating system are all affected. In addition, Macs running the 2021-006 Catalina security update were found to be susceptible.
