The error of the trailer of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ that Taika Waititi himself laughs

While waiting for a new installment of Thor: Love and Thunder to come out, fans analyze every detail of the movie trailer. And, surprise, it comes with a translation error.

Just a week ago the official trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder came to light. It was the second for the new film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe dated July 8 of this year. Also, quite possibly the last time we see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor on screen. In any case, and while we wait for the premiere of the film, fans have already broken down all the details of the broadcast footage. And between villains, Thor’s nudes and other details, also a failure that Taika Waititi himself has laughed at on social networks.

It was the director himself who published the failure of the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer on social networks. One that he defines as “fun” and that has to do with the automatic translation systems used by the different platforms. Specifically with Twitter. According to the popular director of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “if robots want to conquer the planet, they should learn accents.” Or what is the same, the Artificial Intelligence of Twitter has to be put in-depth to be able to identify the differences in the language, at least in English.

And it is that, at least in the version broadcast on Twitter of the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, one of the images of Gorr, the butcher god, played by Christian Bale sounds too complex for the detector of the social network. According to the actual translation, Gorr says “all the gods will die”. Something obvious when the mission of this villain is to get rid of this race in the Marvel Universe. However, the translator did his thing and changed the meaning of Bale’s phrase: “Oh, God, we will die.” Bale’s accent was too much for Twitter’s translation system.

Social networks and Waikiki himself took with humor the message that the villain seemed to say in the trailer. “Gorr is a state of mind in itself,” some pointed out.

It’s not the only Twitter translation bug with the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. Waikiki himself, in a thread on Twitter, spoke of all the problems that were found. Comments from Thor himself, Jane, or Waititi’s Korg are impossible for the Twitter algorithm. Some even could not find any correlation and simply added a “cannot be translated”.

All in all, we still have to wait for a little over a month for the premiere of the Thor: Love and Thunder movie in theaters. The one that promises to be the final farewell to one of Marvel’s greatest heroes and an entire stage of the franchise.
