It all happened at dawn on May 5, 2005. 30-year-old Edgar Ponce , along with other actors, was part of the cast of “Solo para mujeres.” That tragic morning they were recording some promotional items for this show on Periférico Sur avenue in Mexico City.

The members of this show were on board motorcycles, a tour of the Periférico Sur led by the singer and actor Sergio Mayer.

Everything was going normally, when from one moment to another, a speeding motorist ran over several of the members of ” Solo para mujeres ” including Armando González “El Muñeco” (former sentimental partner of the actress Lorena Herrera), Marco Méndez and Roberto Sada .

Édgar Ponce was the only person who suffered serious injuries after being hit by this motorist; He was rushed to a hospital where he unfortunately died hours later . Sergio Mayer faced criminal proceedings for the death of the young actor, for his alleged responsibility in the irregularities that occurred in the filming.

The motorist who ran over several of the members of “Solo para mujeres” was identified as Luis Pascacio Muguerza . He was convicted of reckless manslaughter , as well as injury and property damage; this person was never in jail. He paid a damage repair for 250 thousand pesos.

The actor Armando González “El Muñeco” has identified Sergio Mayer as the only culprit in the death of Édgar Ponce.

“We were under the indications that Sergio Mayer gave us, he had recording dates, we had come from taking some photographs for a magazine in Cancun, we had been going since 8 in the morning to take the plane and we were already quite tired, awake and That, then we had the commitment already made that when we were going to make the video with a motorcycle, without a helmet, they had already told us everything”.
