Tattoos are a popular form of self-expression, but what happens when the design or placement no longer reflects our personal style or beliefs? Tattoo removal is an option for those looking to erase their ink. However, before going under the laser, it’s important to understand the process and consider all factors.
Tattoos can be completely removed, with ND-YAG laser Q-switches technology, we can remove tattoos of all colors in 96% of cases. There are some light colors such as green or yellow that will cost a little more, but we can greatly reduce the color to make it almost imperceptible to the eye.
No, our laser equipment does not leave any type of mark or scar.
Before doing a session to erase tattoos, we must take the precaution of not having taken the sun or UVA rays at least 15 days before (we must not do a laser session, with tanned skin to avoid spots), and we must not perform laser treatment during pregnancy or lactation.
The number of sessions required to remove tattoos will depend on several factors, such as the color of the tattoo, the age of the tattoo, the composition, density and depth of the ink (we cover these in depth in another article).
If we had to indicate an average we could speak between 3-9 sessions, depending on how the patient’s skin responds. To carry out covers, fewer sessions will be needed. Each tattoo is different and it is our body that is responsible for eliminating the pigment.
Tattoo removal sessions must be done every month and a half – at least two months, this rest time is so that our body has enough time to remove the ink and regenerate the skin.
If in two months the tattoo is not completely healed (it does not usually happen), we will wait a little longer for the skin to be completely regenerated to do the next session, thus we will obtain the best results.
Approximately 5 to 25 minutes, depending on the size, ink density and colors of the tattoo. Let’s say a 5 x 5 centimeter tattoo would be about 5 minutes and a 20 x 20 centimeter tattoo would be about 25 minutes.
Light colors like white, green, and yellow are the hardest to erase. Always light shades as these do not absorb the laser light as well.
The pain of a tattoo removal session is similar to that of getting a tattoo, it also depends on the area to be treated and the pain threshold of each person.
In order to minimize this discomfort, we can apply anesthetic cream “emla” on the tattoo, for the anesthetic cream to take effect, it will have to be applied two and a half hours before the session, put a large amount of cream and cover it with plastic film to that the skin absorbs as much as possible.
We must remember that each tattoo and skin are different and that not all will have the same removal rate. As a general rule, we will begin to see results from the first session, but it will take between 20 and 45 days to begin to appreciate them, since it is the time necessary for the body to eliminate the ink particles, through the lymphatic system.
The care after the tattoo removal session is very important and we advise you to take it very seriously, they are the following:
– It is not recommended to wear it covered, if it has to be covered for hygiene reasons, danger of dirt at work or scratches, it must be covered with something that transpires, with gauze and glued with tape for example.
– We must wash with water and neutral soap and hydrate with a specific cream, 3 times a day.
– Continue hydrating with a specific cream for a period of one month, at least once a day.
– If scabs come out, do not tear them off, let them fall by themselves.
– If blisters appear, do not burst them, let them fall by themselves.
– Avoid hot water the first days.
– Avoid exposure to the sun, the first 15 days at least, until the skin is perfectly regenerated.
– Avoid beaches, swimming pools and saunas until it is completely healed, thus avoiding infections.
– Avoid contact with animals the first days until it is completely cured, to avoid infections.
– Rosehip oil and aloe vera help to regenerate the skin, so we can combine it with the cream after 3 weeks from the session, they will always help to have a better result.
We will have to wait a minimum of 3-4 months, so that our body can encapsulate the ink. A recent tattoo is usually somewhat more expensive to erase than an old tattoo.
Yes, without problems, you would simply have to wait at least 2 months after the session, so that the fabric is completely regenerated and ready to absorb ink again.
There are times that we remove tattoos in areas where it would be a problem that no hairs come out after the treatment. Many times women come to us to eliminate micropigmentation in the eyebrows and they worry about whether the hair in this area will be affected.
Most laser does not affect the hair follicle at all, the hair will come out normally, the lasers used for permanent hair removal are different from those used for tattoo removal.
Yes, we can remove partial tattoos, we will only remove the part that the client wants. Our specialist technicians and machinery are very precise, allowing them to remove only part of the tattoo.
