Reduce Excess Fat With The Zerona Laser

The use of laser in aesthetic medicine is a constant that is increasing both in its use and in the possibilities of treatment: permanent hair removal, vascular lesions, angiomas and rosacea, stretch marks and scars, or acne marks are just some of the common procedures offered by most aesthetic medicine centers that have lasers.

The new lasers available on the market

However, the role of the laser in the treatment of localized fat is relatively recent in medicine and cosmetic surgery. Only when we speak of laser in lipolysis are we referring to this technology, which transmits light into the fat fibers (lipolysis) during a liposculpture surgery.

In Spain, work has been done for some time with the Zerona laser, which has the peculiarity of penetrating the interior without the need for surgery or anesthesia. This laser emits light with a wavelength of 635 mm, classified in category IIIB, which can only be used in the medical field.

Zerona laser to eliminate localized fat

Research and scientific literature on the Zerona laser point to how histological studies have shown that the light emitted by this laser modulates the physiology of adipocytes. This laser does not destroy the fat cells through its walls, but rather, as scientific publications point out, it activates an enzyme, called oxidized cytochrome c, whose interaction with the laser light produces ducts that pierce the walls of the fat cells. which allows them to release the triglycerides contained in them. Once free in the interstitial space, they are metabolized, through a hydrolysis process, into fatty acids and glycerol.

What is this laser therapy?

The procedure foresees a minimum treatment of 6 sessions carried out on alternate days, that is, 3 sessions a week, so the treatment is completed in 2 weeks. Before starting it, patient measurements will be taken, control will be repeated two days after the 6th session. If the patient wants, he can undergo another cycle, since the treatment does not stipulate a maximum limit of sessions. So much so that in the United States this treatment has been used for some time in obese people through cycles of 50-60 sessions.

Contradictions and cautions to follow

The Zerona laser has no significant contraindications unless the patient suffers from a serious pathology, such as cancer. It is recommended to follow a series of rules during the development of the sessions, such as drinking at least 1.5 liters of water a day, reducing the intake of coffee (maximum 1 or 2 a day), avoiding the consumption of alcoholic beverages, exercising moderate (if the patient leads a completely sedentary life), and pay some attention to diet (trusting everything in lipolytic therapy is no excuse for gluttony!).

In a few sessions, up to 4 cm less

The treatment is completely painless. The patient will only have to lie down on the stretcher, where 5 sources of laser emission will be placed to treat 5 areas at the same time. Therefore, you must remain still, letting the laser do its job. The total duration of each session is 40 minutes. It is recommended to combine the treatment with a lymphatic drainage massage.

After a cycle of 6 sessions, that is, after 2 weeks, control measures are taken again. Usually between 2 and 4 cm are lost; the greater the thickness of the fat pad, the greater the reduction percentage.

With this treatment, areas such as the abdomen and hips can be treated, in the case of men, and the abdomen, hips, and thighs in the case of women.
