Treatments

Prepare for a wedding

So that the happiness of the bridesmaids is reflected without problems on their faces, we propose some advanced treatments so that the mothers of the bride and groom shine with their own light.

More effective anti-blemish treatments

Among the treatments available are depigmenting creams and peels , and the dermatologist-controlled use of certain lasers and light sources . Treatment is generally complex and requires combined treatments. In this sense, Dr. Alonso emphasizes that “just any” peeling or laser is not valid, since many can be counterproductive . Photoprotection is the basic auxiliary pillar.

Be careful with the spots that appear or worsen with the sun, since a new exposure will aggravate or make the problem reappear.

The treatment of melasma is particularly difficult , as it has a hormonal influence and extreme sensitivity to the sun. Therefore the treatment has to be continued and prolonged throughout the year. It is possible to achieve a total whitening, but the hyperpigmentation can reappear.

Cosmetic formulas that work

There are many depigmenting agents that can improve the appearance of spots and that must be individualized depending on the problem and skin type. Among others, we can highlight hydroquinone and its derivatives, retinoic acid, retinol, kojic acid, azelaic acid, vitamin C , etc. In many cases it will be necessary to complement the treatment with peels or light sources (pulsed light or laser).

Peels: the most effective

In general, in depigmenting peels alpha and beta hydroxy acids (glycolic, salicylic, pyruvic …) are used together with depigmenting substances (hydroquinone, retinoic acid, kojic acid, vitamin C, …) in different combinations and concentrations depending on the desired effect and the type of stain. Treatment should always be accompanied by a good skin preparation and a strict protocol after it, which usually includes strict and high sun protection for several days or weeks. Peeling research includes the development and application of new depigmenting substances, and above all, new ways of making the active ingredients penetrate the skin without the need for it to become so “irritated”. That is, stimulate cell renewal (intrinsic condition to the peeling) without the need to be aggressive.

And in lasers, what’s new?

The light pulsed and Q-switched lasers have been the best treatment for type spots lentigo , and remain, as they continue appearing new and improved laser devices, including fractional. On the other hand, although they have classically been contraindicated in melasma-type hormonal stains, certain protocols applied by dermatologists may be valid for very specific cases.

Electroporation

This technique, also known as virtual mesotherapy, uses electromagnetic waves to open small channels and promote the absorption of cosmetic products to the deepest layers of the skin.

The active principles to apply vary according to the results to be achieved. Thus, for an anti-aging program, ingredients such as ascorbic acid, a powerful antioxidant and neutralizer of free radicals that cause skin aging, and hyaluronic acid are used for a constant moisturizing, healing, firming and regenerating action. Other active components of the anti-aging treatment are organic silicon, which is involved in the regulation of metabolism and cell divisions; L-Carnitine, which pushes fatty acids to the centers where their oxidation takes place, diverting them from the neo-production of triglycerides; glycosaminoglycans, providing its filmogenic and moisturizing capacity, and thioctic acid,

Radio frequency

Radio frequency equipment generates a type of electromagnetic wave that travels through the skin, stimulating it and generating heat. This increase in temperature induces the activation of dermal metabolism, promoting the production of fibroblasts with the consequent increase in skin components such as collagen, elastin or hyaluronic acid, which help maintain a more youthful appearance.

There are different types of radio frequency depending on their power and the area in which they should be used:

Bipolar radiofrequency: acts at a more superficial level, which is why it is used to treat sagging skin in general

Unipolar radiofrequency: being centered on a single pole acts at a deeper level, it is applied to attack adipose tissue in cases of cellulite

Tripolar radiofrequency: a combination of the above types to treat sagging skin and localized fat at the same time

Octipolar radiofrequency: it has eight poles and combines Rf with magnetic waves, which increases the formation of collagen or elastin while improving circulation.

This treatment, indicated for both body and face, is completely painless and has practically immediate tightening and firming effects. With radiofrequency, flaccidity and skin aging are fought, achieving the smoothing of wrinkles, the elimination of bags and dark circles and the redefinition of the facial oval.

Photorejuvenation with IPL

Another non-invasive treatment without any type of side effect or pain is the one that uses Intense Pulsed Light. By applying this type of light on the surface of the skin, it works by stimulating fibroblasts, cells of the connective tissue essential in the healing and healing of wounds, achieving a recovery and regeneration effect. This is because the stimulation of fibroblasts increases the production of collagen and elastin, with which aging skin damaged by the sun or other imperfections caused by external agents is renewed and rejuvenated.

It can be applied on the face, neck, décolleté and back of the hands, and eliminates scars, spots and redness while unifying pigmentation and increasing the luminosity of the skin, being much more effective on lightly tanned skin. Although the treatment does not require recovery time, sun exposure should be avoided for the next two weeks to avoid irregular variations in pigmentation.
