Circle Chart (previously Gaon Chart) has issued its most recent round of official certifications! The Korea Music Content Industry Association launched a new album sales, song download, and internet streaming certification system in 2018.
Circle Chart published its latest album and streaming certifications on March 9. Albums are certified platinum after 250,000 sales and million once a million copies are sold.
TXT received the highest certification this month for their fifth mini album “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION,” which has officially sold 2 million copies barely over a month after its release. With over 250,000 sales, the album’s Weverse edition was also certified platinum.
This month, NewJeans received three album certifications, with “OMG” and their debut EP “New Jeans” both achieving triple platinum with over 750,000 album sales. Their third platinum certification came from the Weverse edition of their “OMG” single album.
BLACKPINK’s “SQUARE UP” and TWICE’s “What is Love?” both received double platinum certifications for sales of over 500,000 albums in 2018. TWICE’s third special album, “The Year of ‘YES,'” received an extra platinum certification.
Platinum certifications were also given to “Face the Sun” (Weverse) by SEVENTEEN, “I burn” by (G)I-DLE, and “REASON” by MONSTA X after each selling over 250,000 copies.
Songs in the streaming category receive platinum certification after reaching 100 million streams. The most recent wave of certifications acknowledges three tracks, beginning with NewJeans’ summer smash “Hype Boy,” which was certified platinum.
IU’s “Love Poem” has gone double platinum with over 200 million streams, while Jang Beom June’s “Melo Is My Nature” OST “Your Shampoo Smell in the Flowers” has gone triple platinum with over 300 million streams.
