Tom Hanks furious with fans who accidentally pushed his wife

The actor and his wife Rita Wilson were walking around New York when they were intercepted by a group of fans.

Tom Hanks defended his wife, Rita Wilson when a crowd of fans excited to take a photo with him pushed her while the couple strolled through New York City.

“My wife? Behind! They take down my wife?!” Hanks, 65, told the crowd, in a video obtained by news portal Page Six. The couple headed to their car as some fans tried to apologize for the incident.

The Oscar winner is currently in New York promoting his upcoming film Elvis, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Austin Butler in the title role.

Hanks and Wilson first met in 1981 on the set of Bosom Buddies when the actor was married to Samantha Lewes. After meeting in 1984, Hanks and Wilson went public with their relationship two years later. Their divorce from Lewes, aged 49, was finalized in 1987.

The filmmaker, who shares daughter Elizabeth, 40, and son Colin, 44, with his ex, exchanged vows with Wilson in 1998. The couple welcomed son Chet in 1990 and son Truman was born in 1995.

The Toy Story actor later revealed that he had a crush on Wilson when she made her television debut as Pat Conway on Brady Bunch. “Oh, from time to time I look it up on YouTube. All the stuff she was into,” she said in a 2016 interview. “I was actually at a friend of mine’s house when it aired and I remember thinking, ‘That girl is cute.’”

The Good Wife actress, for her part, opened up about her connection to Hanks when discussing the secret to their successful marriage.

“It’s like anything,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in 2019. “We got married, got engaged, loved each other, and worked hard on our relationship. We not only love each other, we like each other and we like to be together, we support each other and keep the channels of communication open. That’s always important.”

Wilson also reflected on what attracted her to her husband when they started dating. “We just hit it off instantly,” she said on The Kelly Clarkson Show in April 2022. “First of all, I love a good storyteller. So, anyone who can tell a good story, I’m okay with that.”

She continued: “Talking and eating, that was pretty much our entire existence. I love that. It makes me laugh all the time. He is a very good storyteller.”
