The Witcher: Blood Origin on Netflix: That’s why the Balor actor looks so familiar to you

In the “The Witcher” prequel series “Blood Origin”, the sinister magician Balor lusts for power – and should look very, very familiar to many fantasy fans. You’ve probably only seen him recently…

If we assume that you, as a fantasy fan, devour everything that comes to the big screen and the home screen, then there is a high probability that you have also seen the prestige Amazon project ” The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power “. If this is the case, and you’ve also watched the new Netflix series ” The Witcher: Blood Origin “, then one of the “Blood Origin” stars should look very familiar to you: Lenny Henry as the magician Balor (see news picture above).

Because Lenny Henry is also in season 1 of the “Lord of the Rings” series, but there with a somewhat messier look: Henry plays the harfoot elder Sadoc Burrows (in the German dubbing: Sadoc Lochner). Like all other harfeet, Sadoc is one of those characters not found in JRR Tolkien’s originals that have been reinvented for the Amazon series.

But while Lenny Henry plays a nice guy with his heart in the right place in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, it’s very different in The Witcher prequel series Blood Origin: That’s where he is as the power-hungry magician Balor, who pursues his own agenda at the royal court of Xin’trea. He sees great potential in the monoliths, through which one can travel to other dimensions – not only for the elves, but above all for himself personally…

If you want to see Lenny Henry in another series role then we recommend the fantastic series Broadchurch which has Henry starring as Ed Burnett in all eight episodes of Season 3. And since you should be through with just four episodes of The Witcher: Blood Origin, you’re bound to be looking for a new series to binge on as well.
