Nightmare in El Paraiso
Thursday night’s free broadcast premiere of El verano que vivimos on Antena 3 dominated prime time. Blanca Suárez and Javier Rey’s film averaged 14% of the viewing audience and 1,301,000 people during its time slot on television.
A modest triumph by themselves, but when compared to the typical results of the chain’s prime time cinema, which often holds between 10 and 11% of the share, if not less, there is still one more piece of data to consider. For the most part because it helped Antena 3 outperform the promising first seasons of La promesa (La 1) and, in particular, Pesadilla en El Paraso 2.
Telecinco’s reality show, which premiered its second edition gala on Thursday, attracted 1,006,000 viewers, or 10.4% of the market. Three tenths and 22,000 less viewers than the Sunday debut suggests the show managed to retain a sizable portion of its original audience.
However, the fact that it failed to do so demonstrates the Telecinco format’s continued fragility. The development of this second season is cause for concern, since the Mediaset channel has decided to extend it in order to postpone the premiere of Survivors 2023, as reported by verTele.
