Selena Gomez has surpassed Kylie Jenner as the most followed female on Instagram

Selena Gomez is the new Instagram Queen, dethroning Kylie Jenner as the app’s most followed female. On 20 December 2021, American media figure Kylie acquired the title of most Instagram followers for a girl, with 290,683,268 followers.

However, she was dethroned on February 23, 2023, by pop artist Selena, who exceeded Kylie’s following with a massive 381,580,525 followers.

The Kylie Cosmetics mogul is now close behind with 379 million followers.Selena took a break from Instagram but returned to the network stronger than ever.

Selena’s new record places her fourth overall for the most Instagram followers, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, and Instagram’s own account.

Last month, Selena returned to the famous social networking app, telling her followers in a caption, “Wait, can I tell you I’m back on Instagram?” Selena has already taken a break from her social media channels.

The former Disney star stated in a Vanity Fair piece that she enables her assistant to maintain her accounts due to the negative remarks she frequently receives.

“They can call me ugly or stupid, and I’m like, Whatever. “But, these folks are very detailed,” Selena told the magazine.

“They write such detailed and harsh paragraphs. I’d be crying all the time. I was frequently anxious… I couldn’t take it any longer. It was a complete waste of my time.”

Selena, who has been candid about her mental health difficulties and continuing Lupus battle, also told Vanity Fair that she continues to use TikTok because it is “least harsh.”

“Connecting with fans, seeing how happy and pleased they are, and hearing their experiences,” Selena remarked.

“But, that is frequently filtered through [for me today]. I devised a system. “I submit everything I do to my helper, who posts it.”

Despite her accomplishment, the “Love You Like A Love Song” singer said in a TikTok Live footage uploaded by fans that she would be taking a hiatus from social media once more.

“I’m going to take a break from social media because this is a little foolish, and I’m 30, I’m too old for this,” Selena explained.

“But I love you very much and I’ll see you guys sooner than later. “I’m going to take a break from everything.”

Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the most Instagram followers, with an incredible 552 million followers.
