Filmmaker Samuel Ríos y Valles died this weekend after an assault in Mexico City.
The sad and unfortunate news was confirmed through a statement by his production house Mastodon.
“Sam, without a doubt, leaves a gigantic hole in all the people who love you so much and who had the great fortune to share this life with you,” they reported.
According to national media, the events occurred on the night of Friday, February 25, when Samuel Ríos y Valles was driving along Eje 7 Sur and Gabriel Mancera Avenue in a white Jeep, and armed men tried to rob him.
In this struggle, the filmmaker tried to flee and collided with a car, at the same time he received a bullet in the head that left him badly injured. However, the criminals took advantage and fled in a taxi.
After the accident, Samuel was taken to a nearby hospital, where he lost his life.
The couple from Ríos y Valles, who fortunately was unharmed, was also travelling in the car.
Samuel Ríos y Valles directed the short films “Don’t send me” (2012) and “The forgotten details” (2014), and the movie “The days I wasn’t there”, starring Martín Altomaro and Ana Valeria Becerril.
