NETFLIX 1
Netflix currently has two feature films by Quentin Tarantino in its catalog, but will soon lose one of them. Specifically, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ will be his film that leaves the platform on May 15. In case you’re curious, the one that still remains in his catalog is ‘Django Unchained’.
The good news in the case at hand is that its departure from Netflix does not mean its disappearance from streaming, as it is also available on Amazon Prime Video and Movistar+. In fact, in the latter, it will remain at least until March 31, 2023, while in the former it is unknown how long it will be part of its catalog.
‘Inglourious Basterds’ also has the honor of being the film with which the Oscars returned to pay attention to Tarantino’s work. The brand new winner of the award for best original screenplay for ‘Pulp Fiction’ in 1995, he later chained 15 years of absence at the awards given by the Hollywood Academy. Of course, with ‘Inglourious Basterds’ he had to settle for a double nomination, being with ‘Django Unchained’ when he won his second statuette.
Another peculiarity of ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is that it is probably the Tarantino film that most divides its fans. Some adore her passionately, but more than once I’ve heard her referred to as his director’s worst work. I wouldn’t say that much, but this war fantasy is very irregular, giving us memorable scenes, but also with very marked dips in interest. All in all, it is worth seeing, which also gives us the unforgettable Hans Landa by Christoph Waltz.
We remind you that on May 15 Netflix also leaves ‘The Valley of Vengeance’, a notable and atypical western by Ti West, again topical thanks to ‘X’. And if you don’t fancy either of them, we also have a review of the best Netflix movies so far this year, another of the best comedies available on that platform, and another of the best horror movies you can watch on Netflix.
