On March 10, Miley Cyrus released her eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation, which included a new single, River, and a music video.

Endless Summer Vacation has been regarded as Cyrus’ love letter to Los Angeles and the confidence she’s discovered after focusing on her mental and physical health. The new album has only been released in a few countries, yet it has already topped the iTunes charts in 45 nations, including Australia, India, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

When both River and Endless Summer Vacation were released on YouTube, an unique Endless Summer Vacation streaming session (Backyard Sessions) began streaming on Disney+Hotstar at the same time. Cyrus performed new songs throughout the live webcast, including the smash-hit Flowers and the multi-Platinum hit The Climb.

River, which appears on Endless Summer Vacation, is a catchy pop song with lyrics that equate her companion to a river. The music video, which was shot entirely in black and white, has Cyrus performing on stage while dressed in a halter-neck jumpsuit and high heels.

Previously, the 30-year-old American singer-songwriter teased fans with a sneak peek of the song. Cyrus revealed the inspiration for the song in an Instagram video released by Disney+Hotstar on March 8.

“That was a period in my life when I was going through a lot, both emotionally and personally. Every one of my songs evolves. They can begin as a nuisance, such as “it just feels like an April shower, it never stops pouring, and then it started raining down love.”

Flowers kicks off the Endless Summer Vacation tracklist and closes with a demo version of the hit tune. Among the ten songs on the new album are Jaded, Rose Colored Glasses, Thousand Miles (with Brandi Carlile), and Muddy Feet (featuring Sia).

Flowers is a fantastic revenge song, but Jaded is an emotional breakup ballad with lyrics like, “Isn’t it a shame that it ended so way/Said Farewell forever but you never unpacked.”

The term “Endless Summer Vacation” appears numerous times in the album’s third song, Rose Colored Lenses, which talks about wearing rose-colored lenses to stay in love forever.

Cyrus said ahead of the album’s release that the album is broken into two sequences – AM and PM – each representing an act. “The AM represents the morning hour to me; there’s a buzz and an energy. “At night, it feels like there’s a slinky seediness and kind of a grime but also a glitter,” the singer explained.
