Kevin Spacey to star in film after scandal

Five years after being accused of sexual abuse, he will perform at 1242 – Gateway to the West

Kevin Spacey will star in the film 1242 – Gateway to the West, his first major production since 2017 when the actor was accused and sued multiple times for sexual abuse.

The winner of two Oscars will direct this historical drama in an international co-production with capital from the United Kingdom, Hungary and Mongolia, reported specialized Hollywood media.

This film tells the story of Batu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan and one of the commanders in chief of the Mongol empire, who was assigned the responsibility of invading Europe but ended up failing.

On this occasion, Spacey will share a cast with actors such as Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Terence Stamp, Jeremy Neumark, and Genevieve Florence.

A film that is expected to begin shooting in October, under the direction of Hungarian filmmaker Peter Soons, with a script by Aaron Horvath and Joan Lane.

Since the protagonist of the series House of cards or American beauty was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, he has only lavished himself timidly on the big screen as part of the cast of L’uomo Che Disegno Dio, a film directed by Franco Nero and no commercial distribution in Hollywood.

Spacey was fired from the series he starred in on Netflix, leaving actress Robin Wright in charge for the sixth installment.

Spacey’s film career was twisted after a score of young people sued him for allegedly sexually abusing them at the London Old Vic theater between 1995 and 2013.

In 2020 he was denounced by an anonymous man in New York alleging that the film producer would have acted in the same way as him during the 1980s when the plaintiff was 14 years old.

The last great appearance of Spacey, 62, on the billboard was with Billionaire boys club (2018), directed by James Cox, which was then relegated to failure at the box office due to the scandals of the American interpreter.

31 MILLION DOLLARS Spacey paid to the producer of House of cards after his dismissal, for the losses caused.
