Kendall Jenner: Sue your company 818 Tequila for copying another brand

Kendall Jenner‘s tequila brand, Tequila 818, is facing a lawsuit from another tequila company that claims its image was stolen.

The Kardashian-Jenner family is always in the middle of controversy, and in this case, Kendall is singled out for his tequila brand, which she only launched in 2021.

Since the promotion of Tequila 818, it was harshly criticized for cultural appropriation, since the advertising contained scenes of Jenner riding a horse in an agave field while Mexican workers are harvesting and later she toasted with them.

KENDALL JENNER’S TEQUILA LAWSUIT

The company of supermodel Kendall Jenner, called 818 Tequila, would be involved in a legal problem after the company of Tequila 512 sued her for copying its logo and color scheme.

The lawsuit, filed last Wednesday in the United States District Court in central California, notes in the complaint that Tequila 512 uses an “ immediately recognizable 512 mark in black letters within a vertical yellow rectangle ” and Tequila 818 uses the same image, but with “ inconsequential adjustments ”.

The plaintiffs hypothesize that Tequila 818 intentionally used an incorrect image to blur ” the lines between the two products ” or the image is so similar that Kendal Jenner’s company was ” confused about the difference between the two brands.

” We are reviewing the complaint and we believe that the accusations have no merit,” said a representative of the 818 Tequila company, according to the TMZ portal.

The lawsuit expresses concern about the manufacturers of Tequila 512, explaining that after being on the market for a couple of years, people already associate these visual elements with their brand. However, the Tequila 818 bottle could confuse or lead to the mistaken belief that they are the same company.

With all that in mind, ClipBandits claims infringement of trademark and trade practices and unfair competition. The brand would be seeking monetary compensation for economic damages and that Kendall Jenner’s tequila is prohibited from using this very similar image.

A representative for Tequila 818 dismissed these allegations in a statement sent to TMZ . “We are reviewing the complaint and we believe that the accusations are baseless ,” the document mentions.

Likewise, it was specified that Kendall Jenner was not named as the defendant in the lawsuit, but the company.
