In the documentary titled “Halftime,” which is now streaming on Netflix, J. Lo addresses the criticism that she received for having a more voluptuous body type. During that historical period, traditional beauty standards favored women who were tall and slim.

The actress who appeared in “Marry Me” told me, “There were a lot of times when I thought, I suppose I’m just going to quit.”

She remarked, “I had to get to the bottom of who I genuinely was. “And believe in it to the exclusion of believing in everything else,” and “I had to get to the bottom of who I actually was.”

Lopez continued her discussion of the beauty standards that were present in Hollywood around the time that she first began working there by saying, “When I started working, the beauty ideal was really slim, blonde, tall, and not very curvy.” [Further citation is required]
